Face
After Edward Hirsch
1.
Sometimes it pains me to witness the earth
shift to be so pebbled and cracked
2.
What purpose do eyelashes serve but to fall
lodge themselves between tear and duct
3.
The eyebrows flare out as black flags warning
eyes hide their smolder behind thin flutter-veils
4.
Fleshy pillow this nose that invites
the pummel fist to break it sweetly into shape
5.
Craggy lips blossom, veiny flowers
shades of purple night, a vortex
