Holly Rose Review (HRR) is the first online poetry & tattoo literary journal of its kind.
It began in July 2008 with a blog and a bunch of e-mails announcing its start and calling
for submissions. In October 2008, the Web site was launched; and in December the first
issue went live, with the theme of peace.
Originally, the journal was to be a biannual online journal with themed issues in
December and June. As of February 2009, we decided to publish HRR online three times
annually--two themed issues, one non-themed, publications in June, October, and
February. As of April 2009, we went back to the original plan of a biannual themed
journal. We hope to publish a print collection at some point; we're just not sure when
that will be.
The themed issues share not just the surface of the theme but also layers within and
beyond it--what a theme means and what it could mean if looked at from different
perspectives. If we include a non-themed issue in the future, we would hope to do the
same in an even broader scale: reach within and beyond eclectic layers and meanings.
With every issue we are interested in poems and photos of tattoos that reach around the
corner of life (or death) and grab. Both established and emerging artists from around the
world are always welcome here.
Theresa Edwards, MA, MFA, begins the journal as Publisher & Editor-in-Chief.
As of January 2009~
Toni Turner joins Holly Rose as Partner/Fine Arts Aficionado.
Dana DiLullo hops on board, searching for one great PASSION tattoo for the June issue.
As of February 2009~
Holly Rose Review adds LLC to its status and is always looking for advertisers and
sponsors. Until we get a nice surplus of cash, it doesn't look like we can pay our
contributors.
If and when there's more details, we'll let you know. Thanks...
